PORT TOWNSEND — Even as Aldrich’s market owners Jonathan Ryweck and David Hamilton watched their historic grocery burn on the morning of Aug. 4, they vowed to rebuild.
Nearly two months later, the two are living up to their words one painstaking step at a time.
The partners have been working in donated space across Lawrence Street from where their 114-year-old wooden building once stood.
Their second-floor office overlooks the Lawrence and Taylor streets intersection and they have a view of the plywood walls erected around the barren foundation where Aldrich’s once stood.
