PORT TOWNSEND — Amateur sleuths seeking information about a missing San Francisco liquor salesman are pounding the downtown pavement this weekend looking for clues to solve this year’s History’s Mystery.
A dozen characters in Victorian costume promenade up and down Water Street — some, all or none of them may have clues to solve the mysterious 1892 disappearance of Henry Maison.
Maison’s disappearance is the subject of the interactive mystery being put on by Jefferson County Historical Society as part of Victorian Days.
The contest, the buzz of the town, is open to all ages of would-be Sherlock Holmes.
“I think it’s the judge and the widow,” Chimacum Middle School eighth-grader Alex Baker said as he searched for clues.
“He had blood on his cane and she wanted the insurance money. Judge Swan admitted having a relationship with her while Henry was alive.”
