PORT TOWNSEND — Millennium Digital Media plans to increase its rate for basic cable television service by 8 percent effective Jan. 1.
The increase only affects analog subscribers, not digital service. The monthly rate is currently $33.95 and will rise to $36.95.
Digital subscribers pay $39.95 and up, depending on the level of service they receive.
The rate adjustment follows an increase of approximately 6 percent last year, but Marketing Director Angela Higham said the rate increase is necessary to help Millennium pay for increased fees charged by channels such as CNN and ESPN.
For comparison, Northland Cable analog subscribers in Port Angeles pay between $31.95 and $41.95 per month depending on level of service, while digital subscribers pay from $49.99 to $79.99.
