PORT TOWNSEND — The first Port Townsend Brewfest generated nearly $10,000 for the Edensaw Community Cancer Foundation to benefit Jefferson County cancer patients.
The brewery put on the July 25 event and brought in enough proceeds to contribute more than $3,000, said Kim Sands, brewery co-owner.
“The brewery gave 50 percent of its gross sales,” Sands said, adding that money was also raised through a raffle and donations.
Kiwi Ferris, owner of Edensaw Woods, who put together the event with Guy and Kim Sands, said the foundation received donations from as far away as Germany, but most support came from closer to home.
The benefit for the foundation also drew support from several musicians who performed for free.
Restaurants, including Dos Okies Barbeque, also contributed food and gift certificates.
