Port Townsend city, civic leaders weigh in on car ferry closure

PORT TOWNSEND – Deputy Mayor Michelle Sandoval says the closure of the Port Townsend-Keystone ferry route couldn’t have come at a worse time.

“It’s unfortunate, and it’s a terrible time of year for this to happen,” Sandoval said this week.

“No time would be good. But it’s terrible for our retail stores and our lodging facilities.

“A lot of people come over here, particularly during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. It’s the shoppers we’re really going to miss.”
