PORT TOWNSEND — Parks and Recreation chairwoman Barbara McColgan said Tuesday she will run for City Council.
The 48-year-old retired Air Force pilot and political newcomer said she supports the council-city manager form of government and would work to build on the progress already made by the current council.
She also said she would attempt to balance growth pressures with quality of life issues.
McColgan decided to run for office in part because she has the time to devote to the position, she said.
McColgan said she hasn’t formed firm opinions about political issues, including how to support affordable housing but she intends to investigate methods and promote solutions.
