PORT TOWNSEND — City Council members Monday night held off voting on a multimillion-dollar City Hall project after recommended staff changes raised more questions.
Port Townsend City Manager David Timmons said the absolute deadline for authorizing staff to proceed with the restoration and building project is the council’s June 2 meeting at 6:30 p.m.
As recently as a May 6 workshop, the city staff was considering a $5 million project that included a new annex building next to a restored, 101-year-old City Hall at 540 Water St.
But Monday night, Timmons announced that the staff wanted to reduce the size of the annex from 13,000 square feet to between 9,000 and 10,000 square feet.
