PORT TOWNSEND — City and Port of Port Townsend officials temporarily averted a legal showdown Wednesday, agreeing to meet jointly to discuss the possible razing of dilapidated buildings at Point Hudson.
City and Port officials focused their talk on the demolition permitting process and a planned city moratorium prohibiting the razings.
If the city doesn’t place second reading of a demolition moratorium ordinance on their business meeting agenda next Monday, the Port won’t go further than the pre-application process for demolishing buildings.
Elected officials from each agency will then discuss the situation jointly, Port Attorney Malcolm Harris said.
The Port is also inviting elected city officials to tour Point Hudson at 2 p.m. Monday.
A combined special business meeting of Port and city elected officials will take place at 5 p.m. that day at the Point Hudson Marina Room.
