PORT TOWNSEND — Politics make strange bedfellows, but none stranger than music fans and the Port of Port Townsend.
Spokesmen for both showed up Wednesday to protest a noise ordinance being drafted by the city’s Community Development/Land Use committee.
“We feel the current draft is a direct threat to the marine trade industry and related businesses,” said Larry Crockett, director of the Port of Port Townsend.
Crockett was among two dozen people who commented at Wednesday’s meeting at City Hall on the proposed ordinance, which combines a public disturbance definition of noise with decibel-based criteria.
