PORT TOWNSEND — About 15 Jefferson County residents will join thousands of Americans who will ask their congressional representatives today to put the brakes on war preparations and let United Nations weapons inspectors do their job in Iraq.
About 30 people who live in Rep. Norm Dicks’ 6th Congressional District, about half of them from Jefferson County, will go to Tacoma and deliver that message to a Dicks aide, said Kerri Buckley, a Grays Harbor resident and spokeswoman for MoveOn.org.
The group, Buckley said, is a coalition of organizations that include the Sierra Club, National Council of Churches, National Association for the Advancement of Colored Persons and the National Organization for Women.
Buckley said about 9,000 Americans will meet with congressional representatives nationwide today.
