PORT TOWNSEND — City Council candidates advocated hiring grant writers, holding town meetings and setting aside land for affordable housing during a forum Monday.
The forum at the Port Townsend Community Center was hosted by the Port Townsend branch of the American Association of University Women and the Port Townsend Leader weekly newspaper. Approximately 80 people attended.
Economics, budget constraints, recession and taxes consumed most of the discussion.
Recurring concerns over parking, location of the skateboard park, consolidation of city and county services, and the costs of streets and sewer and water lines were also subjects for the candidates.
