PORT TOWNSEND — Mayor Mark Welch has amended his proposal for PTTV.
The Producers Guild board on Monday is expected to discuss the mayor’s proposal and take possible action, said Karen Nelson, guild president.
Nelson recently said she is concerned the city could eliminate the station’s general manager position at PTTV.
Welch, however, said his proposal actually creates more PTTV production and management autonomy than already exists.
His idea for changing management structure at Port Townsend’s community access TV station takes into account PTTV producers’ concerns, Welch said Friday.
Welch, who teaches broadcast media at Port Townsend High School and was one of the founding members of what became PTTV, said his proposal — like his original offered recently — still adds a city-employed information technology staffer as operations manager.
This could be done while respecting station management’s production autonomy, he said.
Welch also redefines the station manager’s position as an independent contractor who is no longer responsible for government TV production.
