PORT TOWNSEND — A Port Townsend couple who were among the initial contributors to the Northwest Maritime Center has offered a second donation of $100,000 to help build the center.
Jim and Nelly Tretter offered the second $100,000 donation — called a “stretch” — contingent on someone else matching it with a similar stretch.
“The Tretters’ first $100,000 gift kicked off the drive to purchase the Thomas Oil property in 2000,” said Joseph Wheeler, capital campaign chair for the maritime center at the end of Water Street.
“This second $100,000 will go into the building fund.”
