PORT TOWNSEND — A steering problem kept the ferry Klickitat tied up for half the day Monday, eliminating the state Highway 20 link between the Olympic Peninsula and Whidbey Island.
The 76-year-old vessel should be back in service on the Port Townsend-Keystone run today, Washington State Ferries spokeswoman Susan Harris said from Seattle.
The steering failure was discovered around 2 p.m. after the ferry had left Keystone Harbor.
Crews managed to get the 256-foot ferry docked in Port Townsend in spite of the problem, Harris said.
