PORT TOWNSEND — Women are being encouraged to go out on the town Thursday during the third annual Girls” Night Out.
“It’s a day of focus on women,” said Mari Mullen, executive director of Port Townsend Main Street Program, which is sponsoring the event along with Jefferson Healthcare.
“And it coincides well with October being breast cancer awareness month.”
Proceeds from the event will underwrite breast and cervical cancer screening for local women in need through the Jefferson County Breast/Cervical Health Program.
Last year, the event raised about $2,500.
Forty Port Townsend stores will offer special events, in-store promotions and refreshments from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
