PORT TOWNSEND — A request for a change of judges in the Ryan Neil Sorensen murder trial will be heard Thursday during a proceeding in Jefferson County Superior Court.

The request for a new judge is on the docket for 11 a.m. at the County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St. Sorensen is scheduled to appear in court.

Through his public defender, Richard L. Davies, Sorensen is claiming he won’t receive a “fair and impartial trial” if Judge Thomas J. Majhan presides over the jury trial set for July 14 through July 22.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for July 3.

If Sorensen’s request is granted, a judge from either Clallam or Kitsap counties would hear the trial.
