PORT TOWNSEND — If last October was the wedding, Saturday was the reception.
On Saturday, Port Townsend welcomed 204 guests from Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, and Seattle, who arrived in town to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Hyogo-Washington sister state agreement.
Among the guests were familiar faces from Ichikawa, the Hyogo city that became Port Townsend’s sister city last fall.
“The official marriage was last year, but we’ve been doing exchanges for the last five years,” said Port Townsend Mayor Kees Kolff.
Called the Friendship International Goodwill Festival, the Port Townsend day trip was part of a weekend celebration of the sister-state agreement in Seattle.
