PORT TOWNSEND — Touting family-wage jobs, education reform and expanded health care for seniors, Gov. Gary Locke brought the party line to the Jefferson County Democratic Party Fish Fest Saturday at the Palindrome in Port Townsend.
“The Democratic Party is creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds and all situations,” Locke told the crowd. “We are working hard so that everyone has opportunities for a better life, better jobs.”
Locke praised Nancy Biery, former Jefferson County Democratic chairwoman who is now Locke’s external affairs director.
“We interviewed her and hired her on the spot so she wouldn’t have to keep driving back and forth,” Locke said.
