PORT TOWNSEND — The Main Street program, Washington’s first historic downtown revitalization project now mimicked by cities nationwide, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
On a mission to “preserve economic vitality of the historic business district, while maintaining small-town quality of life,” Main Street prides itself in spearheading dozens of beautification projects that made Port Townsend’s downtown what it is today, says Mari Mullen, Main Street executive director.
To mark the 20th anniversary, Main Street is throwing a party, “20 Years of Revitalization Success,” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on the fourth floor of the Mount Baker Block Building, 211 Taylor St.
