PORT TOWNSEND — Millennium Digital Media’s Cablespeed Internet service to the Port Townsend area was out of commission most of Wednesday, the result of equipment failure, a spokesman said.
The outage, which affected about 1,400 customers, left them without Internet access between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., said Bob Lam, Millennium director of operations.
An amplifier failed, which Lam said helps transfer data down Millennium’s cable TV line, which carries the high-speed Internet fiber.
Although Lam, who is based in Seattle, was unable to give the exact location of the failure, he said, “It is in a very difficult location to reach.”
