PORT TOWNSEND — Two local newspapers and the city of Port Townsend will ask a Superior Court judge today to release information from the personnel file of a fired firefighter-paramedic.
At 1:30 p.m., the PDN, the weekly Port Townsend/Jefferson County Leader and the city will oppose an injunction, obtained by Jon A. Schmucker and his wife, Anita Schmucker, on March 14, preventing the city from releasing Schmucker’s employment file to the news media.
The hearing will be in Superior Court of the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St.
The PDN and the Leader have won intervener status on behalf of the city.
According to court records filed by legal counsel for the PDN and the Leader, Schmucker was investigated by the city for drug use and possible sexual misconduct with a young girl.
After a lengthy investigation, he was fired Feb. 3.
