PORT TOWNSEND — The new City Council majority has increased the size of the city Planning Commission to nine members.
The newly elected council members voted to increase the Planning Commission from seven members largely because the city is gearing up for the five-year update of its land-use plan.
The ordinance boosting the membership also allows for expansion of the commission to 11 members, the maximum number allowed by state law.
Council members Freida Fenn, Kees Kolff, Catharine Robinson and Michelle Sandoval supported the increase.
Councilmen Geoff Masci and Joe Finnie opposed the measure.
