PORT TOWNSEND – Some Port Townsend police cars will soon have a new look.
Six all-white 2007 Ford Crown Victoria models arrived Monday that will replace the current blue and white cruisers.
The Port Townsend Police Department’s car fleet totals 14, said Sgt. Ed Green.
The all-white cars will eventually have a blue stripe running along either side with the words “Port Townsend Police” also in blue.
Green said the purpose for the new aesthetic style is two-fold.
“The resale value of an all-white car is much higher,” said Green.
“You don’t find a [blue] and white car going for much at an auction.”
The other reason:
“It kind of fits the motif of the city better,” he said. “We’re a Victorian seaport.”
