PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County shared its Independence Day festivities at Fort Worden State Park with visitors from throughout the nation.
ABC television crews filmed portions of the Centrum Festival of American Fiddle Tunes for broadcast on the Fourth of July.
The television program, one of the “In Search of America” series hosted by Peter Jennings, showcased American music in Boston, New Orleans, New York, Dallas and other cities.
For the Port Townsend portion, crews filmed scenes of the state park and portions of a Fiddle Tunes workshop with Frank Ferrel and Joe Derrane and the afternoon performance of Ralph Blizzard and the New Southern Ramblers.
The show aired at 8 p.m. on the West Coast.
Thursday’s Fiddle Tunes concert, which was sold out, was the highlight of Independence Day.
