PORT TOWNSEND—The Port Townsend Family Portrait will coincide with the inaugural voyage of the Chetzemoka, and take place at 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at the ferry dock on Water Street.
A ceremony in Coupeville, expected to be attended by Gov. Chris Gregoire, is scheduled for earlier in the day, and the boat is expected to arrive in Port Townsend at about 2:30 p.m., said Mari Mullen, Port Townsend Main Street executive director.
The Chetzemoka is scheduled to begin operation on the route between Port Townsend and Whidbey Island on Monday, Nov. 15.
Mullen said that plans for the portrait are still under discussion, but expects it to be “something fun and festive.”
She said it was possible that visitors would be allowed onto the Chetzemoka, but that had not been finalized.
The public is invited to appear in the portrait and should gather at the dock at about 2:45 p.m., Mullen said.
