PORT TOWNSEND — Page Gehrke escaped La La land a year ago to settle at the remote tip of the Quimper Peninsula.
Then Hollywood followed her here.
Gehrke, a graduate of the Los Angeles Film School, had in mind a quiet little town where she could write scripts while living in a Victorian-era home.
She planned to get a part-time accounting job, but hadn’t found employment. With her retirement savings dwindling from a previous career as an accountant and analyst, she needed some income.
Then Hollywood came knocking.
First “Enough,” then “Ring” hired Gehrke, 41, as a production assistant.
Her local knowledge combined with her film education has been of great use to both Columbia Pictures and DreamWorks SKG crews for the two movies filmed in and around Port Townsend this year.
