PORT TOWNSEND — City Hall faces higher health insurance and employee costs in 2002, but City Manager David Timmons said those costs can be absorbed into next year’s budget.
Timmons said he will propose a $6.129 million general fund budget, up from this year’s $5.85 million budget.
No major street improvement projects are slated for 2002, primarily because the street fund continues to need aid from the general fund just to finance ordinary maintenance. The 2002 budget includes a $260,000 transfer from the general fund to the street fund for maintenance projects.
The only projected increase in property tax revenue is $25,000 from new construction.
