The Port Townsend School Board expects to determine a field of of finalists for the position of superintendent in a special meeting today.
The meeting will begin with a closed, executive session at 1 p.m. in the Port Townsend High School Library, 1500 Van Ness.
After evaluating applications, the board will open a public meeting at 4 p.m. to determine which applicants will be invited to the district for interviews.
Finalist interviews are planned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 3.
The meeting will not be open to the general public, but staff and community observers will be invited to the executive session.
Finalists will then visit the district the following week.
The board expects to select a superintendent sometime after that, Board President Jennifer James-Wilson said.
The new superintendent is to start in July, following the departure of Gene Laes after two years as superintendent.
Superintendent search consultants McPherson & Jacobson are expected to assist in application and finalist review.
