PORT TOWNSEND — Memorial services for George S. Earl, retired principal of the local elementary school and the 2004 Port Townsend Citizen of the Year, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at First Presbyterian Church, 1111 Franklin St.
Mr. Earl died Nov. 22 in Columbia, S.C., where he went to see his son, the Rev. Stephen Earl, installed as associate pastor at Shandon Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Earl, who had developed health problems and walked with a cane, was able to attend the Sunday ceremony, but fell ill two days later and died in the hospital, according to his wife, Donna.
He was 76 years old.
