PORT TOWNSEND — A group of Port Townsend High School students could be the first official sister city delegation to visit Ichikawa, Japan following signing of a formal agreement between the cities.
That’s appropriate because the sister city effort was initially promoted by the Port Townsend School District and former Superintendent Gene Medina four years ago.
The City Council this week authorized Mayor Geoff Masci to sign the agreement with Ichikawa Mayor Youichi Matsushita. How and when the actual signing will transpire hasn’t been determined.
Contemporary World Problems teacher Jim Roberts plans to take 10 students to Ichikawa on Nov. 7-18.
