PORT TOWNSEND — Skookum Corp., Port Townsend’s largest employer of disabled workers, has been awarded a $99,000 contract with the U.S. Navy.
The Navy announced this week that it contracted for six Skookum employees — five of them with disabilities — to perform custodial and maintenance work at the Manchester Fuel Depot, outside of Bremerton.
Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in Puget Sound awarded the contract.
“It represents a continuum of growth for Skookum in the market that showed a steady reduction in the past year,” said Skookum chief operating officer Ken Lynn.
“It demonstrates our leadership and a very high standard of quality.”
Skookum has maintained a relationship with the Navy since 1984, becoming the Navy’s prime contractor for maintenance, custodial and grounds work.
