YAKIMA — Port Townsend High School took no prisoners at the Class 3A baseball state championship tournament.
The Redskins, 17-8, pounded Lakewood 7-2 in the championship game Saturday afternoon after destroying Naches Valley 10-0 in the semifinals Friday night. Both games were held at the Yakima County Stadium.
“It’s unbelievable,” Port Townsend coach Tom Kent said about the two-game tournament. He said he had no idea why the Redskins won so easily against the best competition in Washington.
“It just happened,” he said.
