Port Townsend to host planning event

PORT TOWNSEND — The city of Port Townsend and SCJ Alliance will host an interactive planning studio Monday through Wednesday.

The studio will be conducted at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St.

City council members, staff and consultants from SCJ Alliance will meet with the public to begin planning for the 2025 update to the city’s comprehensive plan.

Members of the community are invited participate in drop-in workshops or stay for the entire studio.

The studio will open at 3 p.m. Monday with a city council workshop followed by the PT 2045 Gala from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tuesday will focus on drafting the vision for the plan with studio hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and a vision workshop from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wednesday’s sessions will explore options to achieve the vision established in Tuesday’s workshop with studio hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and a scenario workshop from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The studio will help shape the city’s long-term goals, including how policies for the plan are drafted.

Future public events will continue to build on those goals.

Every city and county in Washington is required to have a 20-year comprehensive plan, and they must update that plan every 10 years.

The 10-year updates for Clallam and Jefferson counties, and all the cities in them, are due by Dec. 31, 2025.

For more information, email Adrian Smith, the city’s long-range planner, at asmith@cityofpt.us or visit www.pt2045planning.org.
