PORT TOWNSEND — Sick of character attacks and angry talk at government and citizens advisory group meetings?
So is Catharine Robinson.
Robinson and a group of fed-up residents are sponsoring an unusual town meeting tonight about how to put civility back into local civil discourse.
It’s titled, “A New Step Toward Civic Dialogue.”
Tonight’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the gym at the Port Townsend Senior Community Center, 620 Tyler St.
“We need to find a better and more productive way to talk,” says Robinson, a 12-year resident who works as a children’s therapist.
“We need to be able to disagree but keep talking. Calling names doesn’t work.
Katherine Baril, faculty chair of the WSU Community Learning Center in Port Hadlock, and Mary Ann Seward of Seward Associates Consulting of Port Townsend will moderate the discussions.
