PORT TOWNSEND — A business owner who previously sought unsuccessfully to rezone a portion of Jefferson Transit’s property to allow for his three Victorian home hardware businesses is negotiating to buy another parcel.
City Manager David Timmons said Monday during a City Council meeting that Kenneth Kelly is in the process of trying to buy property at the corner of McPherson Street and Sims Way.
According to county records, the land is owned by Henry and Tammy Sukert of Port Townsend.
Neither Kelly nor the Sukerts could be reached for comment Tuesday.
Kelly wants to move his three businesses — Anglo-American Brass Co., American Home Supply and Vintage Hardware, all located in San Jose, Calif. — to Port Townsend.
Kelly, who purchased a Victorian home here in 2001, does most of his business through mail-order catalogs.
