PORT ANGELES — Power was out Wednesday afternoon for 4,000 to 5,000 residents in Port Angeles, said Craig Fulton, director of the city Public Works department.
Power first went out at about 1:30 p.m. and was restored at about 3 p.m., he said.
A Bonneville Power Administration breaker opened and dropped power to four of the city’s substations, he said. When crews searched the lines to determine what caused it, they found nothing, he said.
“More than likely a branch came down and shorted the system,” he said.
When crews found no damage to the system, the restored power at the substations.
Residents reported power outages on the west end of Port Angeles and near Port Angeles High School.
