An outage interrupted a basketball game and left about 1,000 customers west of Port Angeles without power for up to three hours Tuesday.
The outage began about 3:40 p.m., said Quimby Moon, Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1 dispatcher.
It affected Joyce, Lake Crescent and Lake Sutherland residents and forced the cancellation of a middle school girls basketball game between Crescent and Neah Bay.
A utility crew isolated the problem along Joyce-Piedmont Road, but couldn’t determine a cause, Moon said, noting officials suspect a tree hit a power line, activating the fault mechanism.
Power was restored by 5 p.m. for most Joyce area residents, Moon said. Power was restored at about 6:30 p.m. to the Lake Sutherland and east Lake Crescent areas.
