Customers north of Freshwater Bay and at Diamond Point lost power because of separate incidents on Wednesday.
About 16 Clallam County Public Utility District customers north of Freshwater Bay lost electrical power for 2½ hours, after a backhoe “digging where it shouldn’t” severed a cable, said David Proebstel, the district’s chief engineer.
The outage in the Striped Peak area began at 12:30 p.m.. Power was restored by 3 p.m.
Some 800 other customers experienced a “blink” in power caused by the substation breaker opening normally before the fuse blew, isolating the faulty cable, Proebstel said.
Their power was restored immediately.
Five customers in the Diamond Point area lost electrical power after a power pole broke, Proebstel said.
