PORT ANGELES — Clallam County commissioners on Tuesday elected to contract again with a company that improperly printed ballots for the most recent election.
K&H Printers of Everett will print 48,000 vote-by-mail ballot-envelope sets for the Aug. 19 primary election and mail them.
This time, said county Auditor Patty Rosand, the ballots should fit into their security envelopes in which voters mail or return them.
K&H performed the same tasks for the Port Angeles School District’s May 6 tech levy election.
Voters discovered that their ballots would not fit into the security envelopes without folding.
Against the auditor’s advice, some voters chose to trim their ballots and inadvertently cut away identifying bar codes.
K&H gave the county a $350 discount for the error.
“They are sending samples of the security envelope to make sure they fit,” Rosand told the three commissioners Tuesday.
