PORT ANGELES — Zola, a poodle puppy, was rescued from a ledge by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Volunteer Search and Rescue Team.
The SARs team performed the steep angle rescue after the Sheriff’s Office was called at about 3:20 p.m. Friday.
The 7-month-old standard poodle had fallen off a cliff near the 300 block of Lower Dam Road after she jumped onto a log and lost her footing, said Detective Sgt. John Keegan in a press release.
She landed on a small ledge about 80 feet down. Although out of sight, Zola could be heard barking, Keegan said.
A SAR member rappelled down to Zola and secured her in a rappelling harness for dogs before the two were pulled to safety.
Zola was not hurt.
