PORT HADLOCK — Sixteen-year-old Whitney Lyn Mudge of Chimacum was crowned Saturday night as the first Hadlock Days queen.
Mudge, a Chimacum high school student and daughter of Laurie Mudge, will lead the festival’s royal court this year.
Three Tri-Area girls who competed for the crown at the Port Hadlock Veterans of Foreign Wars post Saturday night — Polly Guthrie, 15, Vanessa Shaw, 15, and Morgaine Hobbs, 13, — were named princesses.
Candidates were judged by their answers in an impromptu question and answer session and their presentation during a three-minute speech on a topic of their choice.
