QUILCENE — Paulie Rollins of Quilcene was sitting down to Christmas dinner at her sister’s house in Oregon on Saturday when she got a phone call: Her house burned down.
She returned to her Monte Cristo Lane home northwest of Quilcene on Tuesday with her two teenage daughters to find nothing could be salvaged.
Jefferson County Fire District No. 2 Chief Bob Wilson said that a cause for the fire has not been determined.
The home was “completely destroyed” — making a cause difficult, if not impossible, to pinpoint, he said Tuesday.
Rollins is an artist. All of her work, including some items scheduled to be delivered to customers, was lost.
Several family pets died in the fire. Her daughter’s toys, including Christmas presents, were destroyed.
“We lost absolutely everything,” Rollins said Tuesday.
