QUILCENE — Principal Judi Mackey is the School Board’s top choice for superintendent.
Mackey was selected as the leading candidate for the position last week after board members interviewed the three finalists for the position. The other finalists were Wishram, Wash., School District Assistant Administrator Patricia Hail of The Dalles, Ore., and North River School District Superintendent/Principal Eugene Avey of Aberdeen.
“I think it’s a very nice compliment that they want me to be their superintendent,” Mackey said Wednesday of her selection. “I just see it as a vote of confidence that they like the direction the school district is going in.”
Mackey, 59, will replace Interim Superintendent Gil Johnson, a retired superintendent from the Concrete School District.
