A 62-year-old Quilcene man appeared in court Monday, one day after intervening in a domestic violence situation involving his neighbors and allegedly shooting a 45-year-old man to death.
Gary L. Middleton, 62, was arrested for homicide outside Maple Grove Motel in Quilcene on Sunday night after allegedly killing Douglas A. Knight, 45, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies said.
Middleton made his initial appearance in Jefferson County Superior Court in Port Townsend on Monday, where bail was set at $50,000.
No charges had yet been filed in the case, Prosecuting Attorney Juelie Dalzell said.
