QUILCENE — A local teen-ager was killed and two other local residents injured Tuesday afternoon in a head-on crash on rural Center Road.
Scott R. Kench, 16, was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following the crash at milepost 13, approximately 2½ miles north of town.
His passenger, 9-year-old Austin Kench, was transported by ambulance to Jefferson General Hospital in Port Townsend. Hospital officials would not comment on the young girls’ condition and members of the Kench family could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
A Washington State Patrol spokesman said her injuries were not life-threatening.
The State Patrol was not immediately able to confirm the relationship between the Kenches.
Robert W. Moser, 66, was also airlifted to Harborview, where hospital officials said he was listed in serious condition late Tuesday after suffering a broken leg.
According to a State Patrol report, Kench died of injuries sustained in the head-on crash that occurred at about 4:26 p.m. Tuesday.
