QUILCENE — Voters are giving Quilcene School District officials the green light to draw new boundaries for School Board member subdistricts.
Initial election returns Tuesday night showed 73.7 percent of voters favoring redistricting, and only 26.3 percent opposing it.
With 346 ballots counted, Jefferson County Auditor Donna Eldridge said 255 votes supported the measure, compared with 91 in opposition.
Seventeen ballots remain to be counted — they will be tallied today at 1 p.m. in the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
Defining new boundaries takes a simple majority of 50 percent plus one vote to pass.
