PORT ANGELES — South Race Street has reopened between Park Avenue and Lauridsen Boulevard after a five-week closure because of a water main break.
Port Angeles Public Works and Utilities officials announced Tuesday that the repairs were complete, road lines had been painted and the street had reopened.
A water main break on Feb. 16 eroded the roadbed and pavement of Race Street south of Park Avenue.
The City Council last week awarded a $111,725 paving contract to Agate Asphalt of Poulsbo. The contract included a $28,465 repair for South Race Street.
Other paving work in the contract includes asphalt patches to damaged sections of West Fifth Street between Cherry and Oak streets, and along Golf Course Road between Nancy Lane and Lindberg Road.
That work should be completed by Friday, city officials said.
