PORT ANGELES SEmD An open house on the Rayonier cleanup site agreement will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, at 328 E. Seventh St.
The agreement is between the state Department of Ecology and Rayonier Inc.
Rayonier officials have signed the agreement, known as an “agreed order.”
Ecology officials are expected to sign it after its 30-day public comment period, which ends March 5.
The agreed order defines a “study area,” in which the state Department of Ecology and Rayonier have agreed cleanup of the former mill site will occur.
It also sets a three-year timeline for Rayonier to create a cleanup plan for the study area.
The study area includes the 75-acre site and about 1,325 acres of harbor sediment.
The entire cleanup site has yet to be defined.
