SEATTLE — An opposition group has announced it is requesting a recount of SeaTac’s $15 minimum wage initiative.
Common Sense SeaTac announced Tuesday it will request a recount from King County.
Election rules say a group may request a recount if costs are covered.
The initiative requires a $15 minimum wage and some paid sick days for about 6,500 workers at Seattle-Tacoma International airport and related businesses.
Meanwhile, backers of the initiative declared victory during a press conference at the airport.
In results certified Tuesday, the proposal won by 77 votes out of the 6,003 cast.
This doesn’t end the challenges for the minimum wage proposal.
Alaska Airlines and others have filed a lawsuit in county court challenging the initiative.
