U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks told crowds of residents in Port Angeles and Port Townsend on Saturday that his one of his main priorities this year is to help bolster employment on the North Olympic Peninsula.
“The most important issue is jobs in these communities,” Dicks, D-Bremerton, told about 100 people at a town hall meeting in the Port Angeles High School library.
But, he cautioned, the initiative for economic development assistance must come from community members rather than from members of Congress.
Dicks spent Saturday morning with Port Angeles City Council members to consider construction of a wastewater treatment plant and a filtration facility that will correspond with the removal of the Elwha River dams in 2004.
Afterward Dicks drove to Port Townsend to meet with Jefferson County residents.
